WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Under limited supervision, the General Maintenance & Fleet Tech IIIwill perform repairs and maintenance in the Biomedical facility.

The General Maintenance & Fleet Technician typically performs workin one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing,painting, machine and equipment repair and electrical. Conductroutine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair andmaintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities,machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test,inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Providesupport, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

The General Maintenance & Fleet Tech III will provide customerservice for Regional Fleet Management and facilities maintenance.

Assist with the management of fleet operation for the Region.

Manage the Regional Fleet Programs for motor vehicle registrations,operational and organizational maintenance, vehicle emergencysafety equipment, issue, use, and inventory. Accountable for ARCgasoline and minor maintenance cards, enforcement of authorized useof ARC vehicle, vehicle sales, accident, recovery and claims, andformulation and compliance of fleet budgets. Provide support,development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Facilityis 32,000 sq. feet. Also, will manage a fleet of 13 vehicles.

WHEREYOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD

Maintain and repair organization’s facilities and propertiesinvolving routine tasks and responsibilities. Patch minor holes andcracks in walls and ceilings. Repair or replace concrete floors,steps and sidewalks. Paint structures and equipment as needed.

Install and correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, andstructural problems. Document installation and repairs as requiredby regulatory agencies. Install, operate and service boilers,chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanicalequipment. May move and store furniture and equipment. Estimate time and material costs of various projects.

Requisition new supplies and equipment. May plant and tend flowerbeds. Prune shrubs and trees toenhance growth and appearance, water lawns, shrubs and flowerbedsand spray fertilizer and insecticides. May rake and remove fallenleaves, sweep external walkways and staircases and may remove snowusing power removal equipment or shovel. Apply snow-meltingchemical when necessary on company roads, walkways and outsidestaircases. May drive vehicle to other locations. Perform all work in accordance with established safetyprocedures.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Education:

High School or equivalent required.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalentcombination of education and related experience required. Relatedexperience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC,carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required.

Skills & Abilities:

Previous truck and/or bus drivingexperience is desirable. Must have basic writing and communicationskills. R equired to have basic computer skills. Will have on-callduties. Ability to work on a team.

Travel:

May drive vehicle to other locations. A current, validdriver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements:

Regularlyrequired to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with handsand arms and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs. frequently; lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100lbs. with assistance or the use of a powered industrial truck.

Frequently required to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds on flatflooring or ramps. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop,kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb orbalance. Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to usea variety of hand and power tools and work with a variety ofchemicals and solvents. Position may require climbing of laddersfor top-level selection.
