Job Description
Automotive Service Advisor/Writer 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 114 Charlestown Road, Claremont, NH 03743 The Service Advisor acts as a liaison between customers and the service department. This role is responsible for greeting customers, writing accurate repair orders, setting expectations, and ensuring a smooth and transparent service experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet all customers promptly and professionally in the service drive. Prepare accurate repair orders with the customer present; obtain customer signatures on all write-ups. Clearly document customer concerns using the customer’s own words whenever possible. Ask relevant diagnostic questions to help identify vehicle concerns. Communicate recommended services and pricing clearly and honestly. Coordinate effectively with technicians and the parts department to ensure repair accuracy and efficiency. At designated times, send service inspection videos and estimates to customers; follow up in person or by phone to review and explain findings. Notify customers when their vehicles are ready for pickup and review final repair order. Cash out customers and process payments accurately. File and maintain customer and service documentation as required. During downtime, perform administrative and support tasks such as: Scanning and uploading repair orders. Contacting customers with service updates. Checking used car list for inspections or open recalls. Reviewing new inventory vehicles for outstanding recalls. Keeping the service reception and advisor area clean and presentable.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; some college or technical training preferred. Previous experience in an automotive service advisor or customer service role strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Basic automotive knowledge and familiarity with repair processes. Proficiency in using dealership management systems (DMS) and standard office software. Detail-oriented and organized with excellent follow-up skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Capable of occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Schedule:
Full-time; may include Saturdays or extended hours depending on dealership needs.
