JOB DUTIES

The Part-Time Automotive Technology Coordinator will report to the Automotive Technology Program Coordinator. This position will primarily spend each workday in an office and automotive workshop (garage) environment. The facility is heated but not air conditioned. Job duties will require regular work to be performed in a tool room and supply storage room. Sometimes, job duties will require intermittent periods of work outside. This position provides maintenance and inventory management services for the Automotive Technology Degree Program at the College. Wide scope of responsibilities included ensuring that the Automotive Facility is clean, safe, well stocked, and functional for student, staff and faculty use. Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Please note that assigned tasks and responsibilities on both campuses is required for all MCCC positions. Report facilities issues to the college’s Facilities Dept., Tech Services, or other departments as appropriate.
Keep the lab space, tool room, storage rooms, offices, vehicles, outdoor storage area, and classroom functional, clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
Assist program faculty in the staging of vehicles, components, tools, and equipment needed for course lessons and activities. Perform routine tool and equipment safety and functionality checks.
Keep equipment clean, operating properly, and inspected per industry standards. Repair broken equipment as able or send out for repair if necessary.
Ensure training vehicles are operable for use during classes.
Complete minor automotive repairs, such as charging vehicle batteries, jump starting vehicles, checking and adjusting tire air pressures, refueling vehicles, and reassembly of minor automotive parts and vehicle trim covers.
Clean training vehicles on a regular rotation – to include exterior washing and basic interior detailing (vacuuming, cleaning glass and interior trim panels).
Order lab supplies/tools/equipment as needed to keep the lab functional and up to date.
Provide recommendations for tool, equipment, and supply purchases, based off industry trends, the current inventory levels, upcoming class schedules, and the condition of existing college-owned items.
Create and maintain training vehicle, tool, equipment, training aid, and supply inventories, using Microsoft Excel. Properly dispose of inventory no longer in use.
Represent the Automotive Technology Program at on-site and off-site events (Open houses, career days, etc.). Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess the Automotive Facility for problems related to safety and cleanliness
Maintain critical inventories and place orders
Assist Automotive Program faculty when needed
Lead tours of the Automotive Facility for visitors.
Ensure that all operations within the Automotive Facility can run smoothly and without preventable disruptions.
Confirm receipt of orders as they arrive.
Other duties may be assigned

Positions in this class typically require ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work:

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to accommodate the work schedule for the position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree
Advanced knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair
Experience using professional grade automotive tools and equipment
Experience working in a teaching capacity
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) automotive certifications are a bonus, but are not required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Experience using a computer to access the internet, email, and use Microsoft Office Suite
Experience performing minor vehicle maintenance and repair procedures
Experience maintaining inventories
