We are currently recruiting for a Refurb/Upfit Mechanic position in Horseheads, NY for a respected client that specializes in the repair, refurbishing, and upfitting of emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, and police units. This is a great opportunity to put your mechanical skills to work in a meaningful way—supporting the safety and readiness of our local first responders.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical and electrical upfits on emergency vehicles Install lighting systems, sirens, consoles, and other custom equipment Conduct basic diagnostics and repairs on vehicle systems Assist with cosmetic refurbishing, paneling, and interior work Follow detailed work orders and safety protocols Ensure all vehicles are fully operational and meet compliance standards

Requirements:

Minimum of 6 months’ mechanical experience (automotive, diesel, or related field) Familiarity with vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics Ability to read wiring diagrams and use hand/power tools Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically active role Valid driver’s license preferred

Schedule & Pay:

Monday – Friday (no weekends) Shift options available Pay range: $18-$21/hour , depending on experience This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity with a company that values quality workmanship and takes pride in building and maintaining life-saving equipment.
