The Department of Mechanical Engineering inside the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE) at Clemson University invites applicants for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the Assistant and/or Associate Professor rank to begin in August 2025. Appointments at the Professor rank may also be considered for candidates with experience and qualifications appropriate at the level of Full Professor. Exceptional candidates may be considered for a named or endowed professorship. While candidates in all areas related to Mechanical Engineering will be considered, the preference will be given to those candidates whose research aligns with one or more of the following focus areas: Energy, Transportation and Sustainability; Health Innovation and Human Resilience; Cyberinfrastructure, Machine Learning, AI, and Data Science. The Department and College are committed to fostering interdisciplinary research that can address grand challenges facing our society and innovate through a balance of fundamental and translational research. Collaboration with entities outside engineering and science is also highly encouraged. Qualifications
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with the potential to develop an internationally recognized, interdisciplinary research program. Faculty are expected to actively contribute to the Department’s core graduate and undergraduate teaching missions.
