In this position… The Prototype Vehicle Technician is a critical hands-on role responsible for the assembly, modification, maintenance, and repair of prototype vehicles and related systems. What you’ll do… + Assemble prototype vehicles and components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and instructions. + Modify and repair existing prototype vehicles to incorporate design changes and improvements. + Perform diagnostic testing on vehicle systems (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) to identify and resolve issues. + Fabricate and install custom parts and components as needed. + Maintain accurate records of work performed, including modifications, repairs, and test results. + Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions. + Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company policies. + Maintain a clean and organized work area. + Participate in vehicle testing and data collection activities. + Assist in the development of assembly and repair procedures. + Manage inventory of parts and materials. You’ll have… + High school diploma or equivalent required + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an automotive technician, preferably with experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment. + Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills. + Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and fabrication equipment. + Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents. + Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Knowledge of vehicle systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.). + Basic computer skills, Diagnostic Vehicle Tools, CAN Software etc. Even better, you may have… + Associate’s degree or technical certification in automotive technology + Experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
