QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree is required. Qualifying full-time fleet maintenance management, DOT operations, or logistics experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis. Five years of experience in fleet management, service manager, or logistics is required. Two years of supervisory experience is preferred. Must demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills for trend identification, data analysis, vehicle performance management, and developing recommendations for areas of improvement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fleet automated systems is required. A valid driver’s license is required.
SUMMARY:
The Manager, Fleet Services is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and operational management of the organization’s vehicle fleet. This position ensures the fleet operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. They manage customer relationships and serve as the primary liaison between field operations and repair center technicians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The incumbent should be able to perform all the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements.
Fleet Operations Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the fleet, ensuring vehicles are maintained and serviced according to company standards. Maintains relevant data in the Fleet Management Program (FMP) for vehicle efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan. Coordinates necessary repairs, ensuring vehicles remain in safe and operational condition. Conduct on site fleet inspections and minor repairs.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of fleet vehicles, parts, and equipment. Track and manage vehicle acquisition, disposal, and fleet inventory.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensures all vehicles comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including licensing, registrations and inspections, Stay updated on industry regulations and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
Budget and Cost Management:
Monitors and controls costs related to fuel, maintenance, insurance, and other operational expenses. Identifies opportunities to reduce operating expenses, such as optimizing fleet operations or negotiating costs with service providers.
Vendor Management:
Consult with third-party vendors for services such as vehicle leasing, maintenance, repairs, and fuel procurement. Negotiate contracts and monitor service quality.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding fleet-related matters. Collaborate with field offices to address fleet needs and resolve operational issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, service providers, and regulatory agencies.
Technology and Data Management:
Utilizes fleet management software to monitor vehicle performance, driver behaviors, maintenance schedules, and expenses. Analyzes data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and make informed decisions for areas of improvement.
Communication and Reporting:
Liaison between drivers, field offices, maintenance vendors, and senior leadership to ensure smooth operations. Manages and provides reports on fleet performance, maintenance, expenses, and compliance status. Performs other related duties as assigned. Domestic U.S. travel is required.
