Where Your Career is a Force for Good! We are currentlyseeking a General Maintenance & Fleet Technician to work at ourBurlington Red Cross Blood Center in Burlington, VT. Schedule Shiftis Mon-Fri, 8am to 5pm (flexible – 40 hours). On call is required.

Valid Drivers License is required. Offer includes a $1,500 sign-onbonus. Up to $8,000 annually in on-call pay.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Under limited supervision, the General Maintenance & Fleet Tech IIIwill perform repairs and maintenance in the Biomedical facility.

The General Maintenance & Fleet Technician typically performs workin one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing,painting, machine and equipment repair and electrical. Conductroutine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair andmaintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities,machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test,inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Providesupport, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

The General Maintenance & Fleet Tech III will provide customerservice for Regional Fleet Management and facilities maintenance.

Assist with the management of fleet operation for the Region.

Manage the Regional Fleet Programs for motor vehicle registrations,operational and organizational maintenance, vehicle emergencysafety equipment, issue, use, and inventory. Accountable for ARCgasoline and minor maintenance cards, enforcement of authorized useof ARC vehicle, vehicle sales, accident, recovery and claims, andformulation and compliance of fleet budgets. Provide support,development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Facilityis 32,000 sq. feet. Also, will manage a fleet of 13 vehicles.

WHEREYOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD

Maintain and repair organization’sfacilities and properties involving routine tasks andresponsibilities. Patch minor holes and cracks in walls andceilings. Repair or replace concrete floors, steps and sidewalks.

Paint structures and equipment as needed. Install and correct minorelectrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Documentinstallation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies.

Install, operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumpsand related mechanical equipment. May move and store furniture andequipment. Estimate time and material costs of various projects.

Requisition new supplies and equipment. May plant and tendflowerbeds. Prune shrubs and trees to enhance growth andappearance, water lawns, shrubs and flowerbeds and spray fertilizerand insecticides. May rake and remove fallen leaves, sweep externalwalkways and staircases and may remove snow using power removalequipment or shovel. Apply snow-melting chemical when necessary oncompany roads, walkways and outside staircases. May drive vehicleto other locations. Perform all work in accordance with establishedsafety procedures.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Education:

High Schoolor equivalent required.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relatedexperience or equivalent combination of education and relatedexperience required. Related experience includes skill andknowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry andelectrical work is required.

Skills & Abilities:

Previous truckand/or bus driving experience is desirable. Must have basic writingand communication skills. R equired to have basic computer skills.

Will have on-call duties. Ability to work on a team.

Travel:

Maydrive vehicle to other locations. A current, valid driver’s licenseis required.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to use handsto finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk orhear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs. frequently;lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. withassistance or the use of a powered industrial truck. Frequentlyrequired to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds on flat flooringor ramps. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouchor crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Ableto move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to use a variety ofhand and power tools and work with a variety of chemicals andsolvents. Position may require climbing of ladders for top-levelselection.
