Job Description:
Avionics Installer/Aircraft Electrician
Read and interpret drawings to install avionics systems on developmental/prototype aircraft
Provide feedback to engineering and logistics personnel to produce installation documents
Troubleshoot electrical and avionics systems IAW published technical data
Install electrical wiring and electrical / avionics systems IAW installation drawings and industry standards / best practices
Installs units, parts, equipment, and components in avionics assembly, according to blueprints and specifications provided.
Fabricates and assembles prototype harnesses and cables for a variety of military aircraft and is familiar with military technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders and blue prints.
Coordinates with project engineer personnel throughout the project and provides technical assistance to project engineers.
Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft components, such as wiring harnesses, power distribution systems, and functional components including communication/navigation systems, and flight control/aircraft monitoring systems using hand tools, power tools, machines, equipment, soldering irons, and connector installation tools.
Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, technical manuals, FAA FAR’s and commercial aircraft manuals.
Services batteries to keep aircraft in safe operating conditions.
Installs units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly, according to blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and power tools.
All other tasks as assigned by the Avionics Mechanic Lead
Basic Skills and Competency Requirements Preferred:
High school diploma or equivalent
Possess (or eligible to attain) FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification
Experience with General Aviation and Military Rotorcraft required
Experience with
UH-60 / S-70
highly desired
Must have 4 years’ experience in avionics and/or electrical installation/integration with at least 2 years of this experience in accordance with approved FAA standards and specifications
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
Experience in development of FAA Supplemental Type Certificates or US Army Modification Work Orders required
Effective time management and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and exercise sound judgment and discretion
Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner with efficiency and accuracy
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
