Job Description

Position:

 Avionics Mechanic

Contract Type:

Temporary through the end of 2025, with potential for extension

Location:

 Mobile, AL 36608

Schedule:

 Second Shift, Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM (10-hour shifts)

Note:

 Intermittent Saturday shifts may be required.

Standard Hours:

 Regular schedule typically runs from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM.

Pay Rate:

 $32.00/hour

Position Overview:

The Technician is responsible for conducting, maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical and electronic systems in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and company standards. This is a safety-sensitive role and requires strict adherence to all FAA compliance regulations. Primary Responsibilities
Perform maintenance activities using FAA-approved data and in accordance with Military Aircraft, Inc. standards.
Prioritize flight safety by ensuring the production of airworthy systems.
Conduct routine and special maintenance inspections to prevent failures in electrical and electronic systems.
Perform operational checks on navigation, communication, flight control systems, instrumentation, and pitot static systems.
Fabricate wiring harnesses and install or modify electrical systems.
Evaluate and determine repair needs for components; identify necessary parts and procedures.
Follow approved maintenance procedures and consult technical data.
Conduct serviceability tests using OEM-specified equipment.
Complete and sign off work package documentation upon task completion.
Install, interpret, and test electrical systems, including wiring diagrams and cable assemblies.
Use hand tools and soldering equipment to repair or replace components.
Diagnose malfunctions using flight test data and operate test equipment.
Troubleshoot, rework, and modify defective components and systems.
Provide suggestions for process and procedural improvements.
Meet required work schedule and maintain clean, hazard-free work areas.
Apply knowledge of electrical/mechanical theories, specifications, and codes.
Advise personnel on safety and operation of electrical/mechanical systems.
Perform preventative maintenance and assist in technical troubleshooting.
Train and support other maintenance and technical staff.
Maintain hangar tools and equipment in working order.
Adhere to all safety standards, including the use of PPE and OSHA regulations.
Remain alert and operate safely at all times due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
Participate in on-the-job training and observe personnel policies.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance in accordance with company policy.
Additional Requirements

Education & Certifications:

FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) certification preferred
FCC Second Class License preferred

Experience:

3-5 years of experience in electrical/electronics with demonstrated proficiency
Strong ability to interpret wiring diagrams, harness fabrication, cables, and circuit components
Prior aircraft maintenance experience required
Experience with turboprop aircraft preferred

Skills & Competencies:

Thorough knowledge of electrical components and diagnostic tools
Skilled in electrical system installation and inspection
Ability to work efficiently with high precision and minimal supervision
Team player with strong safety awareness

Communication Skills:

Must be fluent in English (spoken and written)
Spanish bilingualism is a plus

Travel Requirements:

Up to 10% domestic and international travel

Physical Requirements:

Frequent sitting, climbing, balancing, and working in confined spaces
Regular standing, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and vision are required
Must be able to lift or assist in lifting up to 50 lbs
