Job Description

Avionics Technician I-III Blue Air Training Corp 1535 State Road 64 West, Avon Park, FL 33825 The Avionics Technician provides support to Company owned aircraft, including but not limited to OV-10 Bronco, IAR-823, A-90 Raider, PC-9, and Bell 206LR helicopter. Avionics Technician I-II Apply basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions; Perform such tasks as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment; Take test readings using common instruments, such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes; Apply technical knowledge of avionics systems in determining equipment malfunctions and expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation; Work under close supervision, receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician; Report to the Shift Lead/Maintenance Manager any safety issues/incidents/concerns as it happens; Ensures hangar and work areas are neat, clean, orderly and in accordance with Blue Air Instruction Vol 4.; Exercise knowledge of technical publications; Complies with company maintenance and logistics procedures and policies; Complies with FAA regulations as applicable; Know and understand the functions and requirements of computerized maintenance software; Perform other duties as assigned. Avionics Technician III Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents; Determine the location and density of circuitry, evaluate electromagnetic radiation, isolate malfunctions, and incorporates engineering; Exercises understanding of the interrelationships of circuits; Exercise independent judgment in performing circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow; Uses complex test instruments, such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment; Provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.; Report to the Shift Lead/Maintenance Manager any safety issues/incidents/concerns as it happens; Ensures hangar and work areas are neat, clean, orderly and in accordance with Blue Air Instruction Vol 4.; Exercise knowledge of technical publications; Complies with company maintenance and logistics procedures and policies; Complies with FAA regulations as applicable; Know and understand the functions and requirements of computerized maintenance software; Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Must be familiar with, able to read and understand wiring manuals, schematics, Company/Manufacturer, and Wire Diagram Manuals. Must be familiar with Garmin navigation. Must be familiar with FLIR systems. Must be able to wire and troubleshoot UFH/VHF radio systems. Must be a self-starter, able to work independently or part of a team. Must possess excellent communication and people skills, to include problem solving and organizational skills. Must be willing to travel. Must be willing to work nights and holidays. Experience in a flight test instrumentation group involved in the designing, installing, gathering, and reducing flight test instrumentation data preferred. Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds or more. Must be able to listen to hear and look to see. Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, and crouch. Must be fluent in the English language with excellent communication skills. Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification a plus. An FCC repairman certificate is a bonus. Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and must not be barred from any government installation.

Avionics Technician I:

Must have three (3) years avionics experience and be detail oriented. Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an Avionics Technician I in daily work performance.

Avionics Technician II:

Must have five (5) years avionics experience and be detail oriented. Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an Avionics Technician II in daily work performance.

Avionics Technician III:

Must have eight (8) years avionics experience and be detail oriented. Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an Avionics Technician III in daily work performance.
