Education and Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDrequired. Four (4) years experience in an avionics/electricalcareer field. or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviationelectronics and two (2) years related experience. A&P (FAAAirframe and Powerplant) license preferred. Other FCC preferred.
Other NCATT preferred.
Position Purpose:
Provides technicalexpertise in testing aircraft systems, troubleshooting andrepairing system discrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact.
Demonstrates technical expertise by implementing process changes toreduce cost and meet schedule without compromising safety orquality. May fill in for the Senior Avionics/Electrical Technicianthus ensuring that the company goals of safety and quality areenforced at all times while adhering to daily work plans tomaintain schedule requirements.
Job DescriptionPrinciple Duties andResponsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in avionics andaircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting. Performs the installation and functionally testing ofelectrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft perEngineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manualsensuring a defect free system. Ensures quality and efficiency of all installations:troubleshoots processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairsof malfunctioning systems. Demonstrates the skills and knowledge required. to effectivelyand efficiently repair or replace defective components and wiringto ensure installations meet conformity. Demonstrates effectiverepair techniques using acceptable practices including splicing,soldering and pinning of wiring. Performs and complies with engineering changes andmodifications as required. Sets up and operates necessary test equipment. Conductsfunctional and operational tests to evaluate performance andreliability. Ensures that all work performed on the aircraft is properly andcompletely documented and ready for inspection. Tests and maintains test equipment, electronic systems, andcomponents. Complies with the company FOD program, tool control program,5-S program and all safety regulations. Adapt to sudden schedule changes.
Additional Functions:
1. In support of aircraft certification and final phasetesting, may include flight tests on aircraft as required. .Performother duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting ofother aircraft systems or disciplines other than avionics, such ashydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controlsor structural installations and repairs. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematicdiagrams. Demonstrates excellent communication skills. Must be able tocommunicate effectively both verbally and written. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work in confinedareas and lift up to 50 pounds.
