Job Description

Researches, develops, designs, tests, and evaluates electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying accepted electrical engineering principles and techniques. Monitors activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements. Develops comprehensive plans for the completion of each assigned task to include requirements development, assessment, and verification, test planning and execution, and field support activities. Develops test plans, procedures, and reports as required, for lab, ground, and flight/range environments. Performs reliability and/or maintainability assessments of systems or subsystems, reports the status of the assessments, and recommends alternative solutions to extend the life cycle of the assessed item. Works well individually or as part of a team; participates in or provides leadership to organizational teams in responding to customer tasking or other work, as required. Works with system maintenance analysts, avionics systems analysts, drafting personnel, technical writers, structural engineers, and other organizational personnel to meet task and deliverable requirements. Works with management and administrative personnel to document work activities as required. Submit inputs to periodic status reports to be compiled and delivered by management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researches electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering related to USAF aircraft and electrical/avionic systems and weapons
  • Performs analyses such as electrical load analyses for aircraft modification purposes
  • Work with other personnel developing Acceptance Test Plans, aircraft system test plans, EMI/EMC source-victim tests, and other plans and reports after testing is completed
  • Supports on-site installation of modified systems during prototyping phases
  • Supports design reviews, status meetings, informal and formal technical interchange meetings; responds to action items in a timely and effective manner and assists senior personnel prepare and respond to action items or other customer inputs/requests originating in such meetings
  • Develops engineering source data including instructions, diagrams, and schematics for technical publications such as maintenance, installation, and operation technical manuals
  • Determines system and subsystem interaction with related aircraft systems
  • Researches and provides inputs for methods, procedures, and conditions for testing installed systems and subsystems components
  • May support installation, test, and operation of equipment and systems in field installations
  • Will use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Create and/or present briefings and technical memorandums to company and customer personnel on an as-needed basis
  • Support other tasks and task leaders as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with relevant experience from an accredited institution is required
  • Experience with specialized software and training in:
  • SolidWorks, AutoCAD
  • Electrical system modeling software (LabView, PSPICE, ORCAD
  • Aircraft modification and/or maintenance background is a plus
  • Familiarity with DoD, USAF, Robins AFB, and Program Management office instructions, regulations, standards, and processes is a plus
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
