Maintenance Technician – Vulcan Aluminum Mill 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Foley, AL 36535 MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- Vulcan Aluminum Mill The purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to provide electrical and mechanical support to the Maintenance Department. Standard tools are to be supplied by the employee. This position requires a shift rotation from days to nights (6:00am to 6:00pm and 6:00pm to 6:00am). Maintenance Assessment is also required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Knowledge in all phases of electrical safety and able to comply with all aspects of the latest National Electrical Code and OSHA requirements in performance of his/her duties. 2. Provide a set of personal tools for use in performing his/her daily duties. 3. Knowledge of basic variable frequency drive theory and application. 4. Ability to read blue prints, schematics and diagrams in order to identify equipment and components. 5. Ability to identify and lock out all sources (zero energy state) of power to machines, equipment, and systems per Lock/Out Tag/Out procedures. 6. Knowledge of DC motor control theory, equipment and application is a plus. 7. Working knowledge of ladder logic and experience using ladder logic as a troubleshooting tool. 8. Experience in use of a laptop/terminal computer to connect and troubleshoot PLC and Automax systems. 9. Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic equipment and their applications with ability to troubleshoot component levels. 10. Identify subsystems or component failure in malfunctioning equipment. 11. Cut, weld and fabricate items (simple or complex) from all types of metals. 12. Plan minor equipment installation or upgrade jobs and itemize a list of materials required for a complete installation prior to starting work. 13. Support and adhere to the Plant safety rules and the Vulcan, Inc., Safety Policy. 14. Regular and predictable attendance and rotating shifts is an essential function of the job.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma plus 2 or more year(s) of maintenance related job experience in a maintenance/manufacturing/construction setting. Two or more year degree / certificate of completion in a maintenance related field of study is preferred. 2. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 3. Capacity to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form. 4. Must successfully pass the Vulcan Maintenance Technician assessment. 5. Proven skills in maintenance related to troubleshooting and ability to utilize electrical and mechanical principles. 6. Thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance principles. 7. Working knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations pertinent to maintenance operations.
