Maintenance Mechanic Position Available In Blount, Alabama

Characteristics:

Performs tasks in the general maintenance, repair, care and upkeep of grounds, equipment, buildings, and facilities, with responsibility for work performance in several trades.

The work requires the use of hand, machine, and power tools and variety of to the mechanical equipment.

Assignments are received through written work orders.

Works alone or with a group.

Receives direct supervision and general direction from the Maintenance Supervisor or Executive Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB

FUNCTIONSParticipate in assignment involving painting, masonry, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and other craft skills in repairs to buildings, equipment, and grounds.

Repairs plumbing fixtures and pipes such as toilets, sink drains, valves and controls.

Digs ditches and holes to uncover leaks and once found, repairs leaks to pipes and valves.

Repairs burner controls and switches, outlets, light fixtures, and circuit breakers.

Repairs windows, door frames, locks and mailboxes.

Clean, service, and make repairs to a wide variety of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and other mechanical equipment.

Clean dwelling units and make repairs after move-outs.

Give general care to lawns and grounds, trees and shrubs.

Operate and repair hand and power tools and mechanical equipment.

Service and do minor repairs to automotive equipment, gasoline engines, light tractors, stoves, heaters, and refrigerators.

Spray for insect control.

Drive trucks, lawn tractors, and other powered equipment.

Unstop sewers and drains.

Fill out and/or complete work orders, reports, inspections, inventories, requisitions, and other written documents.

Make estimates of labor, time, costs, materials.

Plans and carries out preventative maintenance on properties.

Other duties as assigned.

Must have the ability:

To pass an Authority sponsored pre-employment physical and drug screening and periodic random drug screening to assure a general condition of good health and the possession of physical strength and agility necessary to perform moderately heavy labor.

To drive an automobile, work indoors or out of doors in a variety of weather conditions.

To climb stairs and ladders, work in limited spaces, crawl, bend, stretch, and work at heights.

Lift items of fifty pounds to shoulder height.

Handle a variety of chemical compounds and solvents used in cleaning and in the trades.

To be able to work overtime as requested, and respond to after-hours maintenance needs.
