Responsibilities:
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment bycompleting preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors,pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines;following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, andengineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices inoperation; listening for problems; using precision measuring andtesting instruments. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists,cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture ofparts. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts byinspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, andother measuring instruments. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments byusing hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routinepreventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation andequipment. Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checkingstock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment,parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifyingreceipt. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies asneeded to accomplish job results. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questionsand requests. Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing,and summarizing information and trends. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying withprocedures, rules, and regulations. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results asneeded.
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required. Musthave two (2) years documented work experience and currently workingas a maintenance mechanic. Two (2) year applicable technology degree, military service as amaintenance mechanic, or two (2) year apprentice program, can beused to meet part of the experience requirements. Ability andwillingness to work shift work and weekends. Shift work may berequired. Strong commitment to safety required.
