- Birmingham is seeking applicants for multi-craft Maintenance Technician position.
The Maintenance Technician will safely provide support to the maintenance and operations teams by performing routine preventative maintenance, addressing breakdowns and assisting in upgrades as necessary in order to improve the reliability of the equipment and process during the course of normal production hours. Duties include but are not limited to: minor/extensive repair calls, preventative maintenance (PM) tasks, equipment troubleshooting and installation, root cause analysis, and any other necessary task(s) that are outside of the normal capabilities of production personnel. The successful candidate will demonstrate the willingness and ability to troubleshoot, use good judgement, and make proper decisions in compliance with safety policies (JHA’s, SJP’s, LOTO) throughout the facility and with equipment used and maintained, all of which are necessary for meeting job expectations and the prevention of downtime. General mechanical and electrical knowledge is necessary. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree and/or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in industrial maintenance. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and off shifts. Must be able to properly lock-out all required equipment and assist other teammates in doing so. Must be able to demonstrate proper communication skills between shifts and departments.
