Athletic Facilities Maintenance Specialist (Itinerant) Huntsville City – 3.2 Huntsville, AL Job Details Full-time $47,193 – $72,233 a year 3 days ago Qualifications Computer literacy Mid-level CDL Driver’s License 1 year Full Job Description Job Title Athletic Facilities Maintenance Specialist (Itinerant) Job Code OP-145 Job Grade AC/08 Job Goal To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work and services to contribute to the ongoing upkeep of HCS Athletic buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment, including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, groundskeeping. This position is the advanced journey level of the Maintenance role. Reports To Supervisor as assigned Supervises None Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.) Performs skilled maintenance tasks, including but not limited to light carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping, to ensure the safety and usability of all Huntsville City Schools athletic facilities while supporting a program of preventative maintenance in compliance with health and safety codes. Inspects equipment, furniture, fixtures, buildings, and related items to identify needed repairs and performs fabrication, installation, servicing, and general maintenance as necessary. Constructs, installs, repairs, and replaces a wide range of structures and components—including but not limited to doors, walls, signs, desks, counters, shelves, tables, chairs, benches, sheds, fences, stairways, and similar items—to maintain the integrity and appearance of athletic facilities. Installs, repairs, and replaces various locks and lockable hardware on items such as doors, windows, desks, vehicles, lockers, safes, etc., to ensure security and reduce the risk of property loss or damage, and liability. Operates groundskeeping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.) to perform landscaping tasks such as planting, fertilizing, pruning, mowing, and general upkeep to maintain safe and attractive school grounds. Utilizes the district’s online maintenance work order management system to log, update, and track tasks and projects, ensuring timely and organized completion of maintenance responsibilities. Inspects, diagnoses, installs, fabricates, repairs, and replaces various plumbing fixtures and components—including but not limited to sinks, toilets, valves, piping, etc.—to support proper facility function and safety. Repairs athletic equipment to ensure all items are in proper and safe working condition, and recommends reordering or replacement of equipment and supplies when needed. Maintains accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs conducted across all athletic facilities. Manages inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies, ensuring adequate stock and proper usage tracking. Operates heavy equipment, as certified, for tasks that require advanced machinery to maintain or improve athletic facilities. Travels between various Huntsville City Schools athletic facilities to perform maintenance tasks and respond to needs as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the overall upkeep and operation of district athletic facilities. Qualifications Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including related work experience in one or more of the building trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, electronics, etc.), as well as a willingness to work outside (if necessary) in inclement weather. Must be computer literate and possess a valid Alabama driver’s license. May also require CDL or other special licensing. Physical Requirements Requires exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10-20 pounds of force constantly. Terms of Employment Twelve month year. Salary as recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.
