Full Job Description Responsibilities:
In lieu of the Facility and Grounds Manager, attend monthly Facility and Grounds Committee meetings to review facility repairs, maintenance, breakdowns, and updates. Supervise daily cleaning performed by third-party contractors. Daily custodial duties; bathrooms, offices, and public spaces. Interface with the museum’s various maintenance contractors. Ensure the overall exterior and interior cleanliness of the Museum’s entire facility. Demonstrate overall sense of concern and care for the Museum facility and be able to perform maintenance and repair in all areas. Ability to interface with the Health Department, Fire Marshall, landscape contractors and general contractors. Directly interface with the Curatorial Department, Events Manager, Education Department and Security Contractor. Maintain accurate records of work performed. Assist with updating contact information for points of contact. Physically assist the Security Liaison and Director of Special Events on all set-ups, breakdowns, and clean-up needed for events. Assure that the preventative maintenance schedule and activity log are completed in a timely fashion. Learn the Museum’s Safety program and learn to perform CPR. Become intimately knowledgeable of the Museum SOP and help to maintain and update the document at least once per year. Other tasks as required.
Requirements:
Minimum of two years’ Facility Maintenance experience required. Electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and mechanical knowledge required. Must have the physical ability to withstand long periods of standing or walking, and ability to use stairs. Must have the physical ability to lift and/or move equipment. Must have a strong understanding of custodial and sanitizing needs of a public facility. Working knowledge of Word and Excel or Google Docs and Sheets. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some nights and weekends. Ability to work well with staff, Board, volunteers and guests. Must always maintain professional work attire. Must be detailed driven and able to work in a fast-paced environment and self-motivated. Ability to problem solve, be proactive and complete tasks in a timely manner.
