Department:

The General Services Department consists of several divisions in different locations throughout the City. The Facilities Projects Division manages new construction, additions, and alterations of City-owned buildings and parks. The Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance and janitorial services of City-owned structures and properties.

General Services Facilities Technician Position Overview:

This is journeyman level facility maintenance work performing maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment on the second shift. Work involves performing electrical, painting, carpentry, electronics and plumbing repair, refrigeration, heating and air conditioning, masonry and maintenance work on buildings and machinery in city owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings.

Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:

High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency or graduation from a technical college accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with experience and proficiency in at least one technical field such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, masonry and general construction at the journeyman level; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Possession of journeyman level certification in at least one technical field such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, masonry and/or general construction or an equivalent number of years of experience as a journeyman. Possession of a valid Driver’s License. Must pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date. Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire and/or promotion date.
