- Area Description
- The Field Operations team is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and small business services. Within GFiber’s Field Operations, the Plant Maintenance team supports wired and wireless customer installation and network construction leading to the growing and maintaining of GFiber networks.

- As an Inside Plant (ISP) Maintenance Technician, you will focus on the installation, repair, and maintenance of the GFiber physical plant.
You will diagnose and correct all service impacting root causes within the central office, remote terminal and collocation facilities. You will assist vendor partners to develop expertise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of inside plant (ISP) while continuing to provide support for downstream portions of our network infrastructure.

Network Troubleshooting:
- + Ensure continuous residential and small business services by identifying and resolving service-disrupting issues spanning from backbone fiber to the central office or remote terminal equipment within the GFiber network.
+ Diagnose and correct issues with inside plant (ISP) network connectivity, including Optical Line Terminals, Optical Switches, Routers, Wireless Radios and their components + Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to inside wiring (fiber, ethernet, coaxial, and twisted pair cabling), powering systems (including DC power plants, UPS, etc.), and network devices (media gateways, modems, routers, switches). +

Network Infrastructure:
- + Install, restore, or maintain Central Office facilities and monitoring equipment + Install, restore, or maintain Wireless Radios and supporting equipment + Install and test Optical Line Terminals, Optical Switches and Routers, make cross connects in telecom spaces, and perform installation/construction duties, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cabling and network devices.

Additional Responsibilities:
- + Ability to work non-standard working hours as needed including nights, weekends, holidays, On-call, and differing work rotations/shifts as well as 10% domestic travel.
- At a minimum we’d like you to have:
- + 5 years experience in Fiber to the Home (FTTH)/ Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) network construction and/or fiber network deployments.
+ 3 years of experience in rack and stack work, assembling server stanchions, telemetry closet work (MPOE, DMARC, etc.), patch panels and Telecom Headend work. + 3 years of Experience with physical layer components of networking infrastructure, including Optical Line Terminals, Optical Switches, twisted pair copper cabling (Category 5 or greater), patch panels, fiber optic cabling, etc. + Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs of equipment as required. + Valid driver’s license. + Ability to pass a motor vehicle record check that meets company standards. + Ability to work non-standard working hours as needed including nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and differing work rotations/shifts as well as 10% domestic travel.
- It’s preferred if you have:
- + Ability to operate Google Workspace and Salesforce applications.
+ Experience installing and maintaining Juniper, Adtran or Nokia equipment + Experience working with utility companies, coordinating with city/local permitting offices, and subject matter expertise in outside plant Fiber to the Home (OSP FTTH) deployments. + 3 years of experience with fiber to the business-to-business (B2B)/Enterprise level fiber network construction/operations. + Experience troubleshooting Ethernet network issues related to routers, switches and hubs. + Experience installing, commissioning and maintaining point to point or omnidirectional wireless networks + Experience managing relationships with contractors and vendors of varying types and sizes The US base salary range for this full-time position is between ($35/hr – $38/hr) + bonus + benefits.
