Job Description
General Maintenance Resurrection Catholic Missions of the South, Inc. 2815 Forbes Drive, Montgomery, AL 36110 The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance, grounds-keeping and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. Also, responsible for maintaining an aesthetically-pleasing and functional outdoor space. Provides assistance to staff, visitors and other employees as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities. Mowing lawns. Trimming hedges. Watering plants. Installing sprinkler and irrigation systems. Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture with tarps, tying down unsecured items, etc. Maintaining gardens and lawns, including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching and applying pesticides. Operates and maintains garden and landscaping equipment. Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to follow instructions. Knowledge of general carpentry and repair. Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Familiarity with sprinkler systems and other landscaping equipment. Knowledge of gardening techniques. Knowledge of gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides. A valid driver’s license. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50lbs. Prolonged periods standing and walking. Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces. Must be able to lift up items sometimes above head level.
