FS-OPER-FIRE SAFETY Job Description Classification Title:
Maintenance Generalist I Job Description:

Performs annual fire door inspections across all Campus buildings and provides detailed reports with in-depth information of all identified deficiencies. Escorts local and state fire inspectors during campus inspections and facilitates these visits by providing necessary access, documentation, or transportation for Fire Marshall. Assists technicians in the performance of work including which may include the use of hand tools and testing equipment at ground level and on ladders. Works in all spaces including attics, basements, crawl spaces, and other similar places. Moves and/or lifts weights such as test equipment, ladders, tools, and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. Wears appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety practices and procedures. Drives state-owned vehicle periodically to various job sites as required. Enter maintenance data via the work order system for work requests (WR) and time. Document inspections of fire doors, fire alarm systems, and fire sprinkler systems by use of handheld devices (iPad and Aim). Attend trade and safety training as required. State of Florida Class “E” Operator License required A criminal background and post-offer health assessment will be conducted.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

Expected Salary:

$16.00 Hourly based on experience.

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma (or equivalent) and zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferred Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or fire alarm systems
Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work
SKILLS
Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work

ABILITIES

Ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Must have experience in multiple trades.
