DESCRIPTION
Job Summary Performs specialized maintenance work within the Transportation Engineering Division’s Traffic Operations section. Essential Functions
- Performs various tasks involving traffic operations utilities maintenance projects; locates and marks existing underground utility lines and completes locate tickets within state mandated time frame.
Works with other county departments, contractors, developers, engineers, utility companies, vendors/suppliers, outside agencies and the public. Coordinates work activities, reviews status of work, exchanges information and/or resolves problems
- Operates a personal computer as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, Irthnet locate ticket system, e-mail, and other computer programs.
- Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
- Maintains a current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, methods, and procedures involving traffic operations.
- Responds to after-hours emergency calls when scheduled for on-call duty; repairs main/service breaks; evaluates service calls, determines amount of water loss, and determines needed manpower, equipment, parts, and materials; determines need to request location of utility services; flushes systems after repairs; requests bacteria samples from laboratory.
- Performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking/replacing fluids, refueling vehicles, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, cleaning project work areas, or cleaning shop; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
- Transports, loads, and unloads equipment and materials used in projects; transports crew workers to/from work sites.
- Monitors inventory levels of supplies and materials; ensures availability of adequate supplies, tools, and materials to conduct work activities; initiates requests for new/replacement materials.
- Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Aids other employees or divisions as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred,
- One (1) year previous experience.
- Fingerprinting Required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in
CMA 5805.
- Must possess or obtain within 6 months of hire a valid IMSA certification, IMSA Work Zone Safety certification, and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Traffic Safety in the Work Area certification.
