GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for the operation of the regional multipurpose facility work. Incumbent must possess a strong work ethic, a cooperative, flexible demeanor along with a thorough knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in public assembly facility operations. Individual must have mindset to perform manual labor in facility maintenance and then transform to skilled and semi-skilled duties for event operations as required. Work is performed under the direction of the Turner Center Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Ensures proper setup of events in accordance with master event calendar. Sets up stage, chairs, tables, concessions, and pulls out or moves bleacher seating or other tasks necessary for event setup. Also assist in concession set up and bar set ups. 2. Performs as representative for the Turner Center events. Opens and closes facility as needed at night or weekends. Required to work evening and/or weekend events as needed. 3. Performs routine custodial work such as cleaning restrooms, waxing floors, cleaning bars, stocking office and concession supplies. 4. Responsible for all garbage to be placed in dumpster and maintain ground free from garbage. 5. Assists or lead with set up & general maintenance of barn and Exhibit Hall. 6. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, recognizing problems and finding solutions. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, or policy and apply these to work problems. Ability to receive the public with considerable poise, tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability or willingness to learn to operate automobile, forklift, tractor/mower, high lift, floor buffer and other Center equipment. Ability to handle emergencies and assume responsibility for decisions. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by production schedule. Ability to work in a team. Ability to establish good working relationship with other county staff, vendors, and customers. Skill in operation of maintenance tools and equipment. Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion. Self-starter who will take on tasks for the good of the facility, staff and guests.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of responsible work experience, including some experience in direct public contact and manual labor. Must be a hardworking, team player that adapts and adjusts under stressful situations and diverse schedule. A comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Experience in arena maintenance and/or hospitality, a plus Spanish language skills a plus.
Special Qualifications:
Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License; Ability to obtain a food handler license within 6 months of employment or when deemed necessary and appropriate by Director.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS
Work can be physically demanding work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, climb, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
