Perform building and ground maintenance. Essential Functions (without accommodations) The listed essential functions are intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this position. The omission of an essential function does not preclude the District from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are logical assignment to the position. Perform routine building maintenance including building AC and plumbing systems to ensure functionality, identify hazards, defects and need for adjustment or repair. Perform minor locksmith duties; install, repair, or replace locks and door handles. Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs. Conduct general upkeep procedures including landscaping, painting, and minor carpentry such as door and dry wall repairs. Assist with moving loading unloading and storing supplies, furniture, and equipment. Address facility problems by expediting repairs and ensuring maintenance processes and procedures are followed. Maintain documentation for fire extinguishers and ensure annual service is completed. Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in the performance of routine maintenance and repairs of all District mechanical equipment including but not limited to vehicles, including 4-wheel drive and all- terrain vehicles (ATV’s); heavy equipment, including loader, tractor and forklift; watercraft, including outboard motors. Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of the ULV spray systems and pony motors. Keep shop areas neat & organized. Follow the District’s policies, including Safety Policy, and complies with all local, State and Federal regulations at all times. Accept and unload deliveries to the District, which may require the operation of a forklift. Perform tasks of other job descriptions as deemed necessary to fulfill the District’s functions. Typical Requirements Education/Experience High school diploma, or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED), Licenses and Certifications Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Public Health Pest Control license from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services within six months of employment. Must be maintained through employment. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must be maintained through employment. Must be insurable with the District’s insurance carrier. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Knowledge of the procedures and methods used in the cleaning, repairing and maintenance of buildings. Ability to report, document, and facilitate maintenance issues as required. Ability to work flexible hours, when necessary, including nights, weekends, nights, and holidays. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with the public and District staff. Ability to communicate detailed reports and observations. Ability to follow detailed verbal instructions. Ability to read and understand chemical label instructions written in English. Ability to be courteous and flexible while maintaining a positive attitude when dealing with the public. • Ability to demonstrate discretion and maintain confidentiality of information collected regarding the public. Ability to operate a variety of equipment including various sized trucks, rubber-tracked loader, tractor, forklift, lawn-maintenance equipment, and motorized watercraft. Ability to drive and back- up a truck with a trailer on rough terrain. Ability to maintain and repair District equipment such as vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, small and heavy equipment. Ability to work on both the mechanical and electrical components of equipment and fabricate parts when necessary. Ability to work without direct supervision with technical assistance available from the supervisor. Attendance at out-of-town meetings, classes and other events, some of which involve overnight stays at venues determined by the District, is occasionally required. Working Conditions This position involves working in both inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, vibration, proximity to moving parts, working in high places, exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, and oils and may be required to wear a respirator. Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks. Occasionally use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds. Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh greater than 50 pounds. Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with others.
