Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Parking Services Technician is responsible for a wide range of duties that support the operational efficiency and overall maintenance of the Miami Parking Authority’s facilities. This includes providing excellent customer service, ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of all parking areas, and performing routine maintenance tasks such as painting, minor repairs, signage replacement, and general upkeep. The technician is also responsible for troubleshooting and performing basic repairs on parking equipment and pay stations, reporting safety hazards or facility issues, resolving customer disputes, and documenting the condition of parking structures and lots to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment for the public. Additional duties include traffic direction and trash removal. The technician must have extensive knowledge of parking equipment at automated facilities and perform tasks in accordance with established procedures and cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Patrol off-street parking facilities; conduct inspections, identify/correct hazards, and provide exceptional customer service. Perform daily patrols of garages and lots. Refill equipment with tickets, receipt paper, and ink. Test and troubleshoot equipment such as pay stations and entry/exit verifiers. Assist with light mechanical repairs, including gate arms. Ensure gate and ticket-dispensing equipment functions smoothly. Operate small machinery (e.g., pressure washers, blowers, sweepers, cordless drills). Perform light painting and graffiti removal. Conduct daily elevator inspections for vandalism or damage. Perform custodial duties including trash pickup and sweeping/blowing of common areas. Install parking signs in fences, A-frames, and garage decks. Erect barricades and place directional signs as needed. Open and close assigned facilities daily. Serve as a Maintenance when needed. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas. Patrol garage and lot grounds; direct traffic and ensure vehicle safety. Operate and maintain assigned vehicles; follow all traffic and parking laws. Provide the public with directions and information. Report and/or correct hazardous conditions. Comply with all safety standards and regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Answering emails/ providing customer service.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to complete daily reports (paper or digital). Provide clear, routine information. Maintain records and prepare reports. Establish effective working relationships with coworkers and the public. Lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Basic computer and tablet skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
Judgement and Decision-Making:
Duties are limited in scope but may require analysis of simple problems. Refer complex issues to supervisor. Attention to safety is essential when operating equipment. Errors may lead to financial losses or equipment damage. Work may be subject to checks or verification. May be required to reconcile and turn in collected monies. Regular interaction with coworkers, other departments, and the public.
