Summary
Job Summary:
The Kitchen Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of back-of-house areas including kitchens, laundries, electrical, and mechanical systems in a hotel environment. This role ensures the efficient operation and safety of all kitchen equipment and systems, contributing to a seamless guest experience and the individual must posses a strong background and knowledge of such systems. Previous engineering experience withmercial kitchen equipment and systems is required, preferably in a hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance of all kitchen, laundry, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Troubleshoot and repair any malfunctions inmercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, dishwashers, refrigerators, and ventilation systems.
Maintain a detailed log of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections performed, ensuringpliance with regulatory standards and hotel policies.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to identify potential issues and implement solutions promptly to minimize downtime and disruption.
Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
Implement and ad to health and safety guidelines, ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe andpliant manner.
Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring that necessary supplies are available for immediate repair needs.
Requirements:
Strong background and extensive knowledge of kitchen, laundry, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Previous engineering experience withmercial kitchen equipment and systems, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blues, and schematics related to kitchen and mechanical systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
Strongmunication skills to interact effectively with kitchen staff, management, and external vendors.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the hotel’s operational needs.
Certification or training in relevant fields such as HVAC, electrical, or mechanical engineering is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs) as needed.
Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
