Packaging Maintenance Mechanic Position Available In Orange, Florida

Job Description:

Position Purpose and Objectives Under direction of Supervisorand/or Department Manager, performs line set-ups, changeovers, andmakes mechanical, electrical repairs of liquid, topical, powderfilling and packaging equipment. Performs assigned preventivemaintenance work orders and fills out documentation to ensure workperformed, dates, times and parts used are recorded in the CMMS.Essential Job Functions Follows all company and OSHA safety rulesand regulations to repairs and maintains, in accordance withdiagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’sspecifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such asconveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using handtools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testinginstruments. Visually observes mechanical devices in operation andlistens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Examines formand texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used partsto determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules,calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjustsfunctional parts of production machinery. Repairs or replacesdefective parts, using hand tools and power tools. Installs specialfunctional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools. Startdevices to test their performance. Lubricates and cleans parts. Mayset up and operate drill press, grinder, and other metalworkingtools to make and repair parts. May repair electrical equipment.

Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs andpreventative maintenance on equipment. Overhaul and install newequipment. Rebuild and fabricate parts. Perform facilitymaintenance and maintain clean and safe work area. Generate partsrequest to ensure adequate inventory. Complete work orders asassigned. Perform equipment changeovers and production lineset-ups. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Ability tospeak, read, and writes English. Ability to do basic math. Hasworking knowledge of liquid filling/capping/labeling equipment.

Ability to stand for long periods of time. Has fundamentalunderstanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Can use amulti-meter to test for resistance and various voltages. Candiagnose and repair pneumatic system components. Can diagnose andrepair hydraulic system components. Can use hand tools to performrepairs to machinery. Can use basic power tools and shop equipmentsuch as drill press, and band saw. Supervisory Responsibility None.

Working Conditions Interacts with Supervisor of Mechanics for dailyassignments, provides support as required by line leaders, qualitycontrol, and production supervisors and other management. Insideand outside of air conditioned areas. Requires lifting up to 50lbs, standing, bending, climbing ladders, working in man lifts andfork lift cage. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 3 years experiencein a high-speed packaging environment. Can apply technicalknowledge in real world applications. Good communication skills.

Can work with minimal supervision both individually and in a teamenvironment. Able to work additional hours on short notice toaccomplish company production goals when needed.
