Position may act as a lead to part-time, volunteer and community service workers assigned to facility maintenance work. Performs skilled maintenance on city grounds, athletic fields, medians, and rights-of-way related to pruning, relocation and removal of trees Performs general maintenance on department equipment, such as lawn and power equipment, located throughout the City’s parks, grounds and athletic fields Operates tractors, mowers, jack hammers, welders, trucks, steam cleaners, buffers, washers, and other equipment, as needed Assists with the preparation of facilities for all related recreation activities, special events, and tournaments Maintains detailed records and reports regarding the status of a variety of parks related systems, repairs made and related expenses Participates in the maintenance of athletic fields, landscape areas, playgrounds, and irrigation systems Maintains and adjusts specialized Parks equipment and tools, including chain saws, pole saws, tractors, mowers, carts, sprayers, chippers and stump grinders Assists with the operation lighting systems on designated athletic fields, basketball, and tennis courts lighting systems Operates a variety of hand, electric and air driven tools Assists in the training of part-time employees or community service workers Document work in approved work order software; log hours in daily work orders and special projects Performs duties as assigned during emergency response conditions Performs any other related duties as required or assigned

PERIPHERAL DUTIES

None Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent, and Experience in parks & grounds maintenance work Experience in a variety of trade and maintenance work Any related combination of education, training, and experience Special Qualifications/Preferences Valid Florida Driver’s License with a good driving record Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Certification may be required.
