We are currently hiring an Airfield Maintenance Technician to support daily operations at Clearwater Executive Airport. This hands-on role focuses on inspecting, repairing, and maintaining runways, taxiways, lighting systems, signage, and overall airport infrastructure. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, safety-conscious, and thrives working outdoors in a fast-paced aviation environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct routine inspections of airfield infrastructure including runways, taxiways, aprons, and lighting systems Perform pavement maintenance (crack filling, joint sealing, basic asphalt/concrete repair) Operate heavy machinery (tractors, sweepers, mowers) to maintain clear and safe surfaces Install, maintain, and repair airfield lighting and signage; troubleshoot electrical systems Support fuel system inspections, assist with fueling vehicle upkeep, and maintain inspection logs Maintain compliance with FAA, FDOT, and City of Clearwater safety standards Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, repairs, and maintenance logs Coordinate activities with airport operations, security, and City personnel Respond to airfield emergencies, including runway closures or hazardous conditions Assist with special projects and other tasks related to airfield improvement and safety

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in maintenance or aviation a plus Previous experience in airfield, facilities, or grounds maintenance Ability to operate and maintain a range of power tools and heavy machinery Comfortable working in all weather conditions with strong physical stamina Basic understanding of airfield lighting, signage, and electrical systems Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

FAA Ground Operations Certification or similar credential OSHA or other safety certifications Experience in municipal or airport operations environments Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical manuals Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
