Job Description

Maintenance/Custodial Technician 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 4701 City Center Parkway, Port Orange, FL 32129 Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Maintenance/Custodial Technician is responsible for the direct maintenance and care of both the DeLand and Four Townes Family YMCA facilities and ground, including preventative maintenance and cleaning. This position is full-time hourly and will be a hands on maintenance/laborer. This position reports directly to the Association Facility Director and DeLand Family YMCA Branch Director. The DeLand Family YMCA will be the home location for this position. Travel to the Four Townes Family YMCA in Deltona will be needed roughly once a week.

  • Remain familiar with risk management procedures in the YMCA facility, which include but are not limited to: swimming pool rules and procedures, current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, child abuse prevention, and understanding specific responsibilities during fire, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency situations.
Job-Specific Functions :

Performs maintenance and repairs for A/C, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, and Painting. Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems. Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested. Assure that the Wellness Center areas are clean, presentable, and clear of hazards at all times. This is accomplished by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Cleans strength/free weight and cardio equipment in the Wellness Center by vacuuming under/around the equipment and wiping down all equipment and surfaces. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies as needed. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, and general cleaning. Report/record any equipment problems and ensure that faulty equipment is not used by members or staff. Remain familiar with emergency procedures in the program and the facility, understanding specific responsibilities in case of fire, hurricane, tornado, or any other emergency. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical and/or Mental Requirements Ability to think, analyze, organize and articulate ideas and strategies independently. Auditory and verbal abilities to give, receive and follow general instructions to ensure the safety and well-being of all members/participants. Ability to sit, stand, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach for extended periods of time. Be able to work inside and outside While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Be able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to work diverse hours. Ability to drive or have access to transportation. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties. Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities; semi-reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; carrying; working in narrow and/or confining spaces; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back. Job-Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Talents Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas. Good judgment under pressure, with the ability to make timely and sound, informed decisions. Ability and current license to drive with a record that meets YMCA standards. Familiarity with computers. Skills in supervision, budget management and project management. Ability to meet deadlines. Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents. Ability to report and record maintenance requests. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Experience :

2 or more years in facility maintenance and custodial roles Must complete a criminal background check and pre-hire drug screening.
