This technician is a subject matter expert in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic door systems and serves as a technical resource and mentor to other technicians. The ideal candidate brings deep field experience, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a commitment to jobsite safety and excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following: Lead installation, service, and repair of commercial overhead doors, dock levelers, rolling steel doors, and high-speed doors, including diagnostics of complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues with precision and efficiency. o Assemble mechanical components or machine parts o Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance o Repair or replace worn or broken door parts using hand tools o Order replacement springs, sections, or slats o Repair or replace worn or broken door parts using hand tools o Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair o Remove parts or components from equipment o Install hardware or other interior fixtures o Fabricate parts or components o Run wiring to connect equipment o Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning o Test mechanical equipment to ensure its functioning properly o Document time and operational activities o Follow manufacturer directions and warranty requirements when installing products Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications, safety standards (OSHA, ANSI), and local codes. Conduct on-site assessments and provide accurate troubleshooting, recommendations, and repair plans. Perform advanced wiring, circuit testing, and control panel programming. Interface with project managers and customers to clarify scopes, manage expectations, and ensure satisfaction. Audit field work for quality assurance and safety compliance. Maintain accurate documentation of service calls, inspections, and parts usage. Recommend and implement preventative maintenance measures to extend equipment life. Stay up to date with evolving technology, product lines, and industry best practices. Inventory management for vehicle-based stock. Participate in after-hours service calls, emergency dispatches, and critical facility support as needed. Champion a culture of safety, professionalism, and technical excellence. Perform other duties as assigned. SKILLS High level of mechanical aptitude with door and dock systems (sectional, rolling, high-speed, and fire-rated doors). Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with the ability to quickly learn new software and tools. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both in writing and verbally, with both customers and staff. Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance. Strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy with commitment to quality workmanship.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

2-3+ years in a progressive role as a commercial dock and door technician. Authorization to work in the United States. A current and valid Driver’s License is

REQUIRED.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout assigned territory required.

DOT Certification:

Will be required upon hire. Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 100 lbs unassisted) and operate various hand tools safely. Forklift certification and MEWP certifications will be required within 30 days of hire date.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

To perform this job successfully, the employee is frequently required to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like; move in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, that may include tight and confined spaces; remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods; moving about to accomplish tasks including moving from one worksite to another; adjusting or moving objects up to 100 pounds in all directions; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and / or fingers; operating machinery and / or power tools; operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment; assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned. This position includes heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.
