RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The Maintenance Technician II is part of the facilities department and reports to the Maintenance Manager. The goal of the maintenance team is to ensure safe and welcoming campuses for Skyland Trail staff, clients, and visitors. The Maintenance Tech II assists with the maintenance of buildings, grounds, building-related systems, and environmental services by applying hands-on skills and expertise or by collaborating with specialized contractors. Examples of work orders completed by the maintenance technician include preventive maintenance schedules, routine plumbing, minor equipment malfunctions, room temperature adjustments, minor structural repairs like patching holes, changing filters and light bulbs, receptacle and circuit breaker repairs, and replacing ceiling tiles. The Maintenance Tech is part of a pool of facilities employees who respond to urgent maintenance concerns outside of business hours and will be on call every other week in the evenings for any emergency requests.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

High school diploma or equivalent At least two years in a facilities maintenance role Ability to pass a criminal background check Possess a valid drivers license and clean driving record

Transportation:

Dependable transportation for traveling between campuses. Maintain personal automobile insurance with limits of liability of $100,000/$300,000 Physical requirements: Ability to lift 50+ pounds; ability to bend, stoop and twist; ability to crawl into small spaces; must be able to climb ladders, access roof hatches and work at heights of 10 feet and above: manual dexterity, visual acuity and effective hand-to-eye coordination are required

REQUIRED SKILLS

Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, including electrical wiring, electronic components, basic plumbing, HVAC principles, and general building maintenance techniques Evidence of mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of hand and power tool operation and safety Excellent customer service skills Excellent organization and time management skills

Skyland Trail provides mental health residential and day treatment programs for teens and adults struggling with mental illnesses like depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and schizophrenia. Though struggling with their mental illness, Skyland Trail patients have entered treatment voluntarily, and clients and their families are engaged in their treatment program. Skyland Trail campuses include gardens, private patient rooms, and common rooms that provide a therapeutic, healing environment for our clients and families.
