The primary responsibility of the Punch-out Technician is to be the main point of contact with the Maintenance Director to resolve punch list issues for all work orders assigned for a specific unit. Also to coordinate, schedule and conduct a punch-out walk-thru with the Admissions Coordinator for a complete punch list resolution. An eye for detail is important for anyone assigned to this role. After the punch list is created, the Punch-out technicians are responsible for repairs to a specific unit with-in the facility as a part of the final quality control activities The Ideal Punch-out Technician should possess a greater than working knowledge in the following areas and must be able to perform these duties with little or no supervision:
Carpentry:
If molding, doors or wood trim work is damaged before the unit is ready to be occupied, a punch-out technician makes the needed fixes. They should also repair drywall and replace flawed, broken or missing hardware on cabinets and doors.
Electrical and Plumbing:
Punch-out technicians also take care of electrical and plumbing problems. This could involve correcting problems with electrical outlets or adjusting or replacing electrical fixtures. Since a unit is almost ready for occupation by the time the punch-out technician gets to work, punch list tasks can also include adjusting toilets, sinks, and shower fixtures that have already been installed.
Painting:
After repairs have been performed on drywall and carpentry work has been completed, the last step is painting. Punch-out technicians may need to paint a wall, perform minor touchup painting, or paint wood trim. Painting is typically one of the final tasks for the technician and must be performed with great detail and eye coordination.
