Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician – Mechanical position in the Facilities Maintenance department is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installation support. Under broad supervision, the Mechanical Technician will primarily work on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.

Description:

Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and installation support in the following areas: HVAC equipment ranging from restroom exhaust fans to chiller systems. Refrigeration equipment such as walk-in coolers, freezers, and ice machines Heating equipment such as gas furnaces, water heaters, boilers and pressure vessels. Water pumps and 3 phase electric motors up to 25 hp Residential and commercial grade kitchen appliance inspection and repair support AC and Solar powered air compressors Elevator inspection and repair support Emergency generator inspection and repair support Security gate repair support Fire sprinkler system inspection and repair support Basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) troubleshooting and repair support Serve as department liaison with outside contractors Participate in the weekly duty rotation schedule which includes a full 8 hr day on duty weekends Comply with JIA policies, procedures, and safety requirements including OSHA Lock Out-Tag Out Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled work shift is required. Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate respectfully but effectively with others. Collaboration with internal and external partners required. Must be a motivated self-starter and solution finder. Experienced with HVAC, refrigeration and associated controls Able to obtain an EPA Section 608, Refrigerant Technician Certification within 6 months Basic understanding of VFD and PLC principles. Ability to read, write and understand sufficient English required to read controls, temperatures, time, etc. Ability to effectively use basic computer applications and software. Ability to read, interpret and analyze electrical and mechanical schematics, and flow charts. Basic knowledge of

NFPA, NEC, OSHA, EPA, GA

EPD, SDS, and HAZMAT standards. Good time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. Must be multi-talented and flexible with work assignments. Ability to identify and diagnose problems and then implement a corrective action plan. Must be capable of working from heights such as ladders, aerial lifts, and roofs. Ability to work in confined spaces.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent climbing, balancing, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive wrists, hands, or finger motions. Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday will be spent crawling, walking, and lifting. Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping, and touching, with more than 50% of the time spent talking and hearing. Visual abilities to perform tasks required are to operate motor vehicles and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures. Required to perform in outdoor environmental conditions. Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity, occasionally adverse weather conditions, and occasional extreme cold. Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to chemicals. May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dust, mists, or poor ventilation. Noise levels are considered normal to loud.
