Position Objective:

Train and mentor reliability technicians D-C, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively. To maintain and upkeep equipment as assigned and participate in root cause analysis of machinery failures, identify the necessary steps to correct the failures, and make repairs and participate in finding solutions to eliminate future recurrence of the failures.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:
Lubrication:

Ability to follow plant-specific lubrication practices, including proper storage, contamination prevention, and oil sample collection.

  • Measurement:

    Proficient in measuring runout on mounted shafts and using advanced measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) with precision (+

  • .001″).
  • Mechanical Print Reading:

    Capable of identifying parts in exploded views and providing sketches with dimensions.

  • Power Transmission:

    Experience in performing precise shaft alignment using various alignment tools, removing/replacing clutches, disassembling/reassembling gearboxes, and mentoring junior technicians. Skilled in selecting and installing bearings, troubleshooting systems, and planning power transmission projects.

  • Fabrication/Welding:

    Proficient in operating plasma cutters and oxy/acetylene torches, and skilled in SMAW and MIG welding techniques to fabricate components to specified tolerances.

  • Hydraulics:

    Knowledgeable in calculating force in hydraulic systems and troubleshooting faulty components using hydraulic prints.

  • Piping/Plumbing/Pumps:

    Skilled in installing rotary unions, modifying piping systems, and identifying and repairing faults in plumbing systems.

Pneumatics:

Ability to check and replace components in pneumatic systems, including filters and control valves.

Non-Equipment Related Tasks:

Perform general maintenance and repairs as directed by management. Attending required meetings and training sessions. Ensure cleanliness and safety in the work environment. Document maintenance activities accurately in the CMMS (Sharp) system. Complete DOSTool activities relevant to current pay level and higher levels as required. Meet performance goals focused on efficiency and downtime reduction. Provide training to fellow technicians as needed.

Critical Skills:

Ability to analyze and resolve equipment failures effectively. Previous mechanical repair experience is preferred. Basic math skills are essential Willingness to operate a powered industrial truck (PIT) May be required to operate aerial lift

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical tasks, including climbing, bending, and working at heights. Ability to stand, walk, or sit for the majority of shifts.
