POSITION SUMMARY:
This is manual work in the preventive maintenance and maintenance repairs on the physical plant as directed in accordance with RMA maintenance policies and procedures. Work involves responsibility for preventive maintenance and general repair work in and around Riverside Military Academy buildings. Work is performed in accordance with established routines with specific instructions provided on non-routine tasks. Work is subject to inspection in progress and upon completion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Paints and makes structural repairs to drywall, masonry, woodwork and furnishings of buildings, apartment, duplexes and similar structures throughout RMA. Assists in the manufacturing of required wooden or metal structures and items needed for special projects/functions. Moves and set up furniture; prepares rooms for scheduled programs and activities. Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, vehicle, and hand tools. Performs preventive maintenance on buildings, apartments, duplexes, cadet rooms, and other similar structures as directed. Maintain accountability and inventory for assigned tools, equipment and supplies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to walk and stand for durations up to five (5) hours at a time. Must be able to bend and stoop. Must be able to use hands for pulling, pushing, and fine manipulation. Must have at least 20/40 vision with or without vision aids. Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds (tools, supplies and equipment) and push forty (40) pounds (wrestling mats, office furniture on dollies and hand trucks). Must be able to reach above head. Must be able to verbally communicate in person, phone, and two-way radio.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS REQUIRED
High School graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of maintenance methods, materials and equipment. Ability to learn the standard methods and the use of materials and equipment employed in general repair work. Ability to use a variety of hand tools (including carpentry, electrician, plumber and painters tools). Ability to perform moderately heavy manual work. Ability to safely operate and work from ladders, scaffolding, platforms and personnel lifts. Ability to understand and follow directions with little supervision. Ability to operate various motorized and electrical equipment (tractors, man lifts, backhoe. etc.) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with general public, co-workers and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
