Maintenance Position Overview:
Responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing, etc.). Perform general cleaning. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Carries out scheduled maintenance examinations and fixes, cleans, and align diverse manufacturing systems to ensure continued operation. Inspects building and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs making notes and recommendations. Perform electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools. Perform plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, etc.) Perform minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.). Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary. Repairing machines, equipment, or structures as necessary. Must be able to work flexible hours.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Completion of high school education; related technical degree preferred. Three years working experience in facility maintenance. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to use common tools. Ability to understand and follow directions as given. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts. Skilled in the use of hand and power tools. Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary. Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches. Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices. Experience performing routine maintenance. Strong organizational and follow up skills. Eye for detail. Strong time management skills. `
Physical Requirements:
Color vision Hearing Ability to push minimum 100 pounds; ability to lift minimum 50 pounds. Ability to climb a ladder and step ladder. Bending at the waist, sitting, keeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.
Environmental Conditions:
Outdoor work during heat or cold . Noise level which may, at times, require normal hearing protection in the form of ear plugs.
