Job Description
Facilities Maintenance Technician Walker County Government LaFayette, GA 30728 Position Summary This position performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on county-owned buildings and facilities. This role will have a strong work ethic, general knowledge of building systems, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to ensure the upkeep, safety, and functionality of county properties. Key Responsibilities Perform general building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC support. Conduct routine inspections of facilities and systems to identify repair needs. Complete minor construction and renovation projects. Assist with preventive maintenance tasks to extend the life of building systems and infrastructure. Operate a variety of tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Respond to maintenance requests from county departments in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, supplies used, and time spent on tasks. Ensure compliance with local building codes and safety regulations. Assist with groundskeeping, snow removal, and custodial tasks as needed. Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and notify supervisors of needed materials or repairs beyond routine scope. Provide support during emergencies, including severe weather response. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. (1) years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred. Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physical labor in various weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
High School diploma or GED 1 years of experience in the maintenance industry Valid driver’s license Basic knowledge of building systems, infrastructure, and maintenance operations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of a Facilities Maintenance Technician . He/She must be able to stand, walk, sit, and squat for extended periods of time. He/She must be able to bend and reach over his/ her head. Other physical demands include but are not limited to. WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the required duties of an Facilities Maintenance Technician , the employee can be exposed to moderate to high noise levels. Duties will be performed 80% in doors in all parts of Walker County. Environmental factors include extreme weather conditions including heat, rain, extreme cold, sleet, and snow at times. There are also times that the employee could be exposed to respiratory hazards including fumes from gases, chemicals, dust, and dirt. There is exposure to dangerous machinery as well as moving vehicles while work is being performed. PPE should be as needed.
