We are seeking an experienced and dependable General Building Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and upkeep of commercial buildings within active construction environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building systems, construction practices, and general maintenance procedures. This role plays a key part in ensuring that newly constructed and existing commercial structures are safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
Preventive & General Maintenance:

Conduct regular inspections of buildings, systems, and structures to identify and resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventative maintenance tasks on building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural elements. Repair or replace building components including doors, windows, drywall, finishes, flooring, and ceiling tiles. Handle minor electrical tasks (e.g., replacing outlets, light fixtures, switches) under supervision or within scope of licensure.

Building System Support:

Assist in the operation and upkeep of commercial building systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, and water systems. Monitor and maintain fire protection systems (e.g., alarms, extinguishers, sprinkler systems). Coordinate with licensed trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians) during installations or major repairs.

Carpentry & Structural Work:

Carry out general carpentry repairs and installations, such as framing, partitions, shelving, and finish work. Patch and paint surfaces as required to maintain a clean and professional appearance. Commercial door hardware installation and repair

Site Support & Safety:

Support construction teams by preparing job sites, moving materials, and maintaining site cleanliness. Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and use of PPE at all times. Respond to maintenance requests in a safe, timely, and professional manner. Maintain records of maintenance performed and equipment used via Procore, iPad, and email.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification is an advantage. Minimum 5 years of experience in general building maintenance, preferably in commercial or construction environments. Proficient in the use of hand and power tools. Strong working knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction methods. Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals. Basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Physically able to lift, carry, and work on ladders, scaffolds, or in confined spaces. Valid driver’s license with clean MVR; reliable transportation to job sites. OSHA certification or equivalent safety training. Ability to pass drug screen, and background check

Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Working Conditions:

Frequently exposed to active construction zones and partially completed buildings. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. May require working at heights or in confined spaces. Requires use of safety gear including helmets, gloves, goggles, and boots.
