Full Job Description General Summary:
Maintains and repairs machinery and equipment by performing the following duties. This position is classified as a safety sensitive position, see Limitations and Disclaimer for additional information.
Essential Job Functions:
Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Assists with keeping machinery and equipment in good operating condition by cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Maintains and repairs buildings’ electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts, such as switches and fuses, repair and install VFD drives, and pneumatic experience. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Reads manuals and diagrams to fix equipment. Repairs and maintains physical structure of machinery, equipment, and establishment. Builds jigs and fixtures. Listens to and visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment to detect malfunction. Sets up and operates machine tools such as grinder or drill to repair or fabricate parts, fixtures, or tools. Completes manufacturing documentation in a timely manner. Follows all safety guidelines as noted in Safety Manual. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of OSHA restrictions and regulations. Knowledge of the capacities of machinery and equipment. Skill of installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications. Ability to tell when something is wrong, or is likely to go wrong.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, as in any business office with computers and printers. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds. Or While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
