Monday & Fridays (8:00am-4:00pm) & Wednesdays (12:00pm-7:00p); hours somewhat flexible with advanced planning

Compensation:

$23/hour

Position Description:

The position of Building and Grounds Maintenance Technician is to provide semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance of the building and grounds of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church as well as support and coordination of events that take place on the property. The position reports to the Associate Rector, in coordination with the Parish Administrator and the church’s Buildings and Grounds Committee. Each of these works under the supervision and direction of the Junior Warden and the Rector.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Building and Grounds Maintenance Repair and maintain buildings, fixtures, equipment, and grounds as assigned Inspect all entrances, sidewalks, parking areas, and church grounds during each shift and remove miscellaneous debris and trash. Maintain keys, locks, and doors, including hinges and closers Ensure restrooms are clean and in working order Perform monthly HVAC, plumbing, and electrical inspections and schedule contractors for repairs as needed Regularly check and remove rubbish from cans, clean floors, and grease trap properly maintained Perform miscellaneous painting, scraping, sanding, caulking, and minor repairs as needed Maintain and repair plumbing, including drains, vents, faucets, supply lines, shutoffs, clogged drains Coordinate deliveries from vendors and storing supplies and other items Keep maintenance records, including inspection reports and documentation of problems Schedule regular maintenance visits from contractors as specified in the maintenance manual Maintain inventory of cleaning and repair supplies Safety Check and respond to security and safety issues on the property Perform door entrance and exit door checks each shift, ensuring doors are secured properly Perform monthly fire extinguisher and emergency lighting checks as scheduled Salt and de-ice entrances and sidewalks, as needed

Qualifications and Skills:

Courteous and effective oral and written communication with members of the community and guests who meet and work on the property Ability to interact with a wide variety of people and provide helpful assistance and guidance Proper and safe use of all materials and repairs as required by staff guidelines and local and state building codes Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, building repair and ability to make recommendations for specialized repair work with contractors Ability to operate basic maintenance tools, including buffer, vacuum cleaner, etc. Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc. up to 50 pounds and transport 150 pounds with mechanical assistance

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license Candidates must pass a comprehensive background check Candidates can be open to occasional, pre-scheduled shifts on weekends and evenings that will be paid separately in addition to employee’s weekly hours Prior to resigning this position, minimum notice of two weeks is required.
