DESCRIPTION
What You’ll Do:
Building Maintenance & Preventative Care
Independently performs routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of facilities, including offices, laboratories, greenhouses, storage buildings, and grow rooms. This includes preventive and scheduled maintenance for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety systems, emergency eyewash/showers, painting, and carpentry. Travel using a state vehicle to alternate worksites and occasional overnight stays may be required.
HVAC System Maintenance
Troubleshoots and performs repairs on HVAC systems, including chilled water, refrigerant-based DX systems, variable air volume systems, exhaust fans, and laboratory-specific ventilation and pump systems.
Electrical Work
Installs and maintains electrical systems and infrastructure, including lighting, electric motors, generators, equipment, and fire alarm systems.
Carpentry and General Repairs
Performs basic carpentry, including casework installation, roof inspections, painting, and repairs to doors and hardware.
Grounds and Exterior Maintenance
Supports landscape and irrigation system maintenance and performs pressure washing of sidewalks and building exteriors as needed.

EXPECTED SALARY:
$20.00 – $22.00 per hour
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area
Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in HVAC or electrical fields, with three or more years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance or a related trade. Equivalent vocational or technical training may substitute for the preferred experience.
Proven ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; must be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and facility stakeholders.
Basic carpentry knowledge and skills, including familiarity with tools, materials, and safety practices.
