GENERAL FUNCTION

Inspects, repairs andmaintains functional automotive and mechanical equipment andmachinery such as forklifts, front-end loaders and cherry pickersalong with that of electronic components of industrial machineryand equipment. When repairs to electronic components are donefollowing electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprintsand other specifications.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Thefollowing statements are intended to describe the general natureand level of work being performed and are not to be construed as anexhaustive list of all responsibilities: Maintains service recordson vehicles and equipment. Inspects, repairs and maintainsfunctional parts of automotive and mechanical equipment andmachinery, such as forklifts, front-end loaders and cherry pickers.

Inspects defective equipment and diagnoses malfunctions usinganalyzers, pressure gauges, chassis charts and factory manuals.

Disassembles and overhauls engines, pumps, pump power units,generators, transmissions, clutches and rear ends, using hand toolsand hoist. Adjusts brakes, aligns wheels, tightens bolts andscrews, and reassembles equipment. Operate equipment to test itsfunctioning. Changes oil, checks batteries, repair tires and tubesand lubricates equipment and machinery. Performs “tag out” or “lockout” procedures on equipment in the yard.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS& ABILITIES

Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, electricalaspects of engines and hydraulic and pneumatic systems ispreferred.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

Prior work experienceas a maintenance mechanic in an industrial or shipyard environmentis preferred.
