Position Summary
Provide general support in various craft skills required to construct, repair, and maintain plant equipment, utilities, buildings, and related structures. Able to perform at a high level of proficiency toplete skilled tasks. Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain shop tools. Operate oxygen and acetylene torch, welding machines, band saws, and ot maintenance related fabrication equipment. Operate and maintain portable power and standard tools. Able to operate a forklift and ot maintenance related mobile equipment. Principal Duties & Responsibilities
maintain and repair mechanical equipment throughout the plant, including:
Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
Electrode welding and acetylene torch cutting (minor assignments).
Aligning motors, gearboxes, and pumps.
Inspecting, aligning, and replacing belts and sheaves, chains and sprockets, etc.
Rebuilding valves and cylinders, simple mechanical drives and similar devices.
Fabricating simple structures, braces, equipment, etc. from steel, sheet metal or wood.
Pipefitting:
screwed, flanged, welded, and glued pipe and fittings for air, water, hydraulic and steam systems.
Rigging with chain falls, jacks, forklifts, crane scaffolds, etc.
Surface preparation through cleanup.
Perform preventative maintenance (PM) to the plant mechanical equipment as specified.
Maintain daily work logs.
Perform routine PM to plant mechanical equipment as specified.
Manufacture parts or equipment to the extent of qualifications as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Test repaired or newly installed equipment. Replace guards, floor grates, etc. Remove all tools, parts, rags, etc. uponpletion of assignment.
Follow checkout procedure when removing items from the storeroom.
Follow CMMS procedures to report follow-up work and work found on PM’s.
Consistently practices safe working habits and actively work to promote safety to ots.
Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment as qualified throughout the plant. Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment.
Assurepletion of work assignments when working alone or with assistance from ot mechanics. Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
Perform ot duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
High School Diploma or GED
5 years of related experience; Technical educational training through an accredited vocational school will be considered in lieu of experience
Good Mechanical aptitude
Ability to work with ots as a team. Industrial maintenance testing required for advancement. Physical Requirements
Work indoors and outdoors in all weat conditions often exposed to heat, cold, inclement weat, grease, oils, dust, and dirty working conditions. Work involves standing, climbing, walking on elevated catwalks, work at heights, and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.). Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
