About the Position
Third-level seasoned vocational worker accountable for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings and facilities. At this level, employees work in and have general knowledge of a variety of trade areas including: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities and grounds. May oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks. This position serves as a career transition point for employees to either continue with this family or transfer to the Specialty Trades and Construction Family. Additional duties may include; participating in the repair and adjustment of plumbing, furniture, painting, moving equipment, operation of motorized equipment; lawn mowers, zero turns, hedge trimmers, pressure washers, chain saws, pole saws, string trimmers, and tractors, safety practices and other duties as assigned. This position is located in Wiggins Community Homes
What you’ll need to be Successful
Be a Team Player and Have a Great Work Ethic. The ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, without assistance, employing proper body mechanics and lifting techniques, twenty-five (25) times per day. The Ability to retrieve objects from floor level (bend/stoop) employing proper body mechanics and lifting techniques, twenty-five (25) times per day.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires 3-4 years of experience.

Agency preferred qualifications:

Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma) AND Three (3) years of experience in at least one of the following fields: plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical work, electronics, plastering, air-conditioning/refrigeration, heating equipment, or general maintenance and repair. OR One (1) year of successful experience as a Facilities Maintenance Repairer II. Candidate must have a Valid Divers License. Experience with general maintenance such as carpentry, plumbing, grounds, electrical, painting, mechanical repairs.
