Let’s Work Wonders® The Opportunity The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventative, remedial and routine maintenance tasks with regard to plant production and facilities equipment in addition to directing employees and maintenance tasks at our Greensboro plant. We are looking for candidates with skills in pipe fitting and welding specifically. This role will report to the Maintenance Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities Welding Stainless Steel (flanges, stub ends, couplings, joints, etc.) Welding Carbon Steel (flanges, stub ends, couplings, joints, etc.) Scoping projects Taking accurate measurements for new installs and repair jobs Ordering materials Reading P&ID’s Equipment rigging Cleans and maintains plant maintenance areas and equipment regularly as required, promoting environmental cleanliness and efficiency. Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments in accordance with pre-established maintenance schedules and as needed or requested. Attends and participates in plant, shift safety, and quality meetings as required, providing accurate maintenance reporting and completing job safety evaluations as requested. Receives and completes daily work assignments, documentation and checklists as required, adhering to process and industrial safety guidelines and requirements. Leads and assists in the fabrication, modification and implementation of new and existing equipment and machinery supporting other maintenance mechanics.. Coordinates the quality review of equipment operation and production outcomes, troubleshooting equipment and results for potential errors or issues and reporting them as ne Obtains and uses the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed, maintaining the condition and storage of such equipment. Assists in the training and mentoring of entry-level maintenance personnel. Participates in and completes other projects and tasks as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED); technical trade certification preferred. A minimum of eight years of pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and mechanical equipment repair are required preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment. The ability to read, understand, and apply common operational documents, SOP’s, manifests, and bills’ of lading; the ability to apply basic mathematical concepts; and the ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, are required. This individual will perform skilled work in welding and cutting using
MIG, TIG
& Aluminum welding equipment Ability to function independently in a team environment with minimal supervision. Perform electric arc and acetylene welding on equipment, including pipe, tanks, machine parts, metal structures, fixtures, and fittings. The work environment will include both field and shop environments Prepare objects for welding by preheating, cleaning, filing, positioning, aligning, and clamping or wiring loose parts Evaluate, design, repair, and/or fabricate machine work as required Maintain, clean, and perform minor repairs on welding equipment Assemble, maintain, install, and/or repair piping systems and components Other related duties as required Proficiently use standard machine shop equipment such as lathe, milling machine, drill press, band sawn, and other machinist-related hand tools Follow all safety procedures Always wear all required PPE Knowledge of hazardous waste materials and the appropriate handling and disposal of such products. Superior mathematical and computer literacy skills. Superior verbal and written English communication and comprehension skills, specifically the ability to read and interpret schematic documents and drawings. Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair machinery. Demonstrated knowledge of basic manufacturing safety and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. Current tow motor/forklift license or certification. Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. Demonstrated decision-making and project management capabilities. Physical Demands Employees would be frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to sit, use hands and fingers, and reach with their arms. Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee would occasionally be exposed to moving parts, potential fumes, or airborne particles.
