Primary Purpose:

Maintain and repair church facilities, systems (excludes A/V), and equipment related to both the building and grounds (excluding cemetery) in order to fulfill our mission to know Christ and make Christ known as we worship, grow and serve together.

Essential Duties:

• Manage, coordinate, (and when qualified perform) all routine maintenance of church facilities, systems, and equipment, ensuring all systems are operational (includes but is not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, phone/internet, security/fire alarm, and lighting)
• Provide current and detailed information on the state of facilities, systems, and equipment including repair needs, system useful life benchmarks, required upgrades for usability or code compliance, and the like to the Senior Pastor and Trustees Committee at least annually
• Enlist bids, quotes, and consultation from qualified professionals at the direction of the Trustees Committee and present same to the Trustees Committee for review
• Coordinate with persons contracted by the Trustees Committee (as directed) for facilities, systems, and equipment repair or update to allow access and to ensure timely & quality completion of work
• Monitor adherence to building codes and fire regulations and report deficiencies to the Senior Pastor and Trustees Chairperson
• Coordinate set-up and removal of tables, chairs and other items for meetings, services, events, weddings, and funerals
• Prepare and submit receipts to the Accounting Department for supplies purchased and work performed (a copy of the expense report should also be sent to the Trustees Chairperson)
• Work with Senior Pastor and Trustees Chairperson to manage and recommend the annual facility maintenance budget
• Attend weekly staff meetings or provide an equivalent level of communication concerning the repair, maintenance, upgrade, and availability of facilities, systems, and equipment for ministry

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED and three years equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a facilities/systems maintenance field
• Experience with church facilities maintenance preferred but not required Knowledge/Skills Base
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, phone/internet, HVAC, lighting, and security/fire alarm systems
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC and lighting systems preferred
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted
• Basic understanding of the United Methodist Church’s structure and organization preferred Other Requirements Annual Safe Sanctuary Training Quarterly & Annual review with the Senior Pastor Communicate with assigned liaison from the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
