Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventative and mechanical maintenance on railcars and equipment used for transporting our cement products. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a physically demanding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on railcars and equipment. Utilize on-site tools, with the grease gun as a critical tool for daily operations. Conduct equipment repairs located 26 flights of stairs above the ground floor (occasional requirement; candidates should be physically comfortable navigating stairs). Operate and troubleshoot equipment that facilitates the transportation process. Perform welding and cutting assignments, including fabrication of plant equipment and structures, as well as repairing worn process equipment to plant standards ( welding experience is a must-have ). Troubleshoot and repair 480V batteries on railcars. Assist with pipefitting, plumbing, and lubrication tasks, including inspection and repair of piping systems and oil reservoirs. Perform millwright assignments such as bearing replacement, equipment alignment, and power transmission inspections. Operate mobile equipment as needed to complete assigned duties.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in welding and fabrication. Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with preventative maintenance practices. Ability to perform manual labor, including heavy lifting in a warehouse environment. Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and repairs. Intermediate-level experience; equipment operating experience is preferred but not required.
